Walk
Glyndwr's Way or the Ann Griffiths walk (the Welsh Hymn Writer)
and explore the ruins of Mathrafal Castle, once home of Llywelyn,
last Prince of Wales and the site of the National Eisteddfod.
The villages of Pontrobert and Dolanog are also nearby - the
Ann Griffiths walk starts from here. At Meifod our local artist
'Kathy Gittins' has her gallery and tearoom and the local
country pup 'The King's Head'. Here there is also a local
shop and Post Office. In the surrounding area we have Powis
Castel and Gardens, the Llanfair Light Railway, Montgomeryshire
Canal and Lake Vyrnwy to the north. Making Newbridge a very
central stop for touring mid-Wales. It is also an ideal area
for cycling. |
